(1) The Oregon Department of Emergency Management, in consultation with the State Department of Geology and Mineral Industries, shall establish by rule a uniform tsunami warning signal, including rules specifying the type, duration and volume of the warning signal and the location of warning signal delivery devices, for use on the Oregon coast.

Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 401.952

  • Emergency: means a human created or natural event or circumstance that causes or threatens widespread loss of life, injury to person or property, human suffering or financial loss, including but not limited to:

    (a) Fire, wildfire, explosion, flood, severe weather, landslides or mud slides, drought, earthquake, volcanic activity, tsunamis or other oceanic phenomena, spills or releases of oil or hazardous material as defined in ORS § 466. See Oregon Statutes 401.025

(2) The Oregon Department of Emergency Management is not required to carry out the duties assigned under subsection (1) of this section if sufficient moneys are not available under ORS § 401.955. [Formerly 401.863; 2021 c.539 § 52]
