A gift or conveyance of property under deed or other writing executed after June 30, 1993, to any person for the term of the life of the person, and after the death of the person to the children or heirs of the person, vests an estate or interest for life only in the grantee or person receiving the gift or conveyance, and remainder in the children or heirs. Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 93.050

  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
