(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, each domestic nonprofit hospital service corporation shall be charged an assessment to partially support the activities of the division of insurance in the department of business regulation.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
(b) The assessment referred to in subsection (a) of this section shall be calculated in the same manner as set forth in § 27-1-41 [repealed].
(c) The minimum assessment charged shall be the greater of the sum determined by subsection (b) of this section or $ 1,000.
