Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws > Chapter 23-7.1 - Rodent Control and Eradication

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Director: means the director of the department of health, or any subordinate or subordinates to whom he or she has delegated the powers and duties vested in him or her by this chapter. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • Federal government: means the government of the United States of America. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • Local communities: means any cities and towns of Rhode Island. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means any individual, firm, private corporation, association, partnership, municipal corporation, or any other entity recognized by the law as a subject of rights and duties. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • Rodent: means rats, mice, and/or bats. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • State: means the government of the state of Rhode Island. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-7.1-3
  • United States: include the several states and the territories of the United States. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-8
