Terms Used In South Carolina Code 59-105-50

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
In addition to the publication required by § 59-105-40, each institution of higher learning must make available to all students a description of the jurisdiction, procedures, and time deadlines of institutional disciplinary proceedings.
