The secretary of the Department of Labor and Regulation may contract with any person, firm, or corporation qualified to administer claims of self-insured employers with respect to adjustment, administration, and management of workers’ compensation claims for any self-insured employer. Costs of such claims administration shall be paid from the security deposit.

Terms Used In South Dakota Codified Laws 62-5-16

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • employer: includes the state and any municipal corporation within the state or any political subdivision of this state, and any individual, firm, association, limited liability company, or corporation, or the receiver or trustee of the same, or the legal representative of a deceased employer, using the service of another for pay.   • Person: includes natural persons, partnerships, associations, cooperative corporations, limited liability companies, and corporations. See South Dakota Codified Laws 2-14-2
