(a) Unless the nonrenewal notice contains a reason for the nonrenewal action, the notice shall advise the insured that upon written request of the named insured, mailed or delivered to the insurer not later than fifteen (15) days after the effective date of the nonrenewal, the insurer will within twenty (20) days mail to the named insured a written statement specifying a reason for the nonrenewal action.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 56-7-1902

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Person: means any association, aggregate of individuals, business, company, corporation, individual, joint-stock company, Lloyds-type organization, organization, partnership, receiver, reciprocal or interinsurance exchange, trustee or society. See Tennessee Code 56-16-102
  • Representative: when applied to those who represent a decedent, includes executors and administrators, unless the context implies heirs and distributees. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) There shall be no liability on the part of, and no cause of action of any nature shall arise against, any insurer, its authorized representative, its agents, its employees, or against any firm, person or corporation furnishing information to the insurer, as to the reason for nonrenewal.
