(a) The powers conferred by this chapter shall be in addition and supplemental to the powers conferred by any other law, and are not in substitution for such powers, and the limitations imposed by this chapter shall not affect such powers.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 7-5-113

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Authority: means a metropolitan port authority created pursuant to this chapter. See Tennessee Code 7-5-103
  • Metropolitan government: means the political entity created by consolidation of all, or substantially all, of the political and corporate functions of a county and a city or cities. See Tennessee Code 7-5-103
  • Port: means a terminal facility with all associated components necessary for the loading and unloading of goods and people involved in inland waterway transport and navigation. See Tennessee Code 7-5-103
(b) The powers granted in this chapter may be exercised without regard to requirements, restrictions or procedural provisions contained in any other law or charter, except as expressly provided in this chapter.
(c) Any metropolitan government authorized under this chapter to create a metropolitan port authority may do so without the necessity of a charter amendment, notwithstanding anything in its charter to the contrary.
