Tennessee Code 8-30-106 – Powers of department

To carry out the purposes of this chapter, the department may do the following:

(1) Contract with persons outside the department as the commissioner deems necessary;

Commissioner: refers to the commissioner of human resources appointed under §. See Tennessee Code 8-30-103
Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
Department: refers to the department of human resources pursuant to §. See Tennessee Code 8-30-103

(2) Administer oaths;

(3) Issue subpoenas to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents related to any investigation or hearing authorized by this chapter and secure enforcement of such subpoenas by petition to the chancery court of Davidson County; and

(4) Maintain such action or proceeding at law or in equity as the commissioner considers necessary or appropriate to secure compliance with this chapter and the rules, regulations and orders issued hereunder.
