- Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
- Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
Subject to the oversight of the executive commissioner, the department shall examine, investigate, enter, and inspect any public place or public building as the department determines necessary for the discovery and suppression of disease and the enforcement of any health or sanitation law of this state.
