Terms Used In Texas Labor Code 101.114

  • Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
  • Signed: includes any symbol executed or adopted by a person with present intention to authenticate a writing. See Texas Government Code 311.005

A labor organizer or an officer, agent, or member of a labor union may not collect a fee, dues, or other sum in connection with membership in a labor union from a person without giving the person at that time a receipt that:
(1) is signed by the labor organizer, officer, agent, or member; and
(2) states that the sum of money received is to be:
(A) delivered to the labor union; and
(B) held intact until the person has been elected and has become a bona fide voting member of the union.
