Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 375.282

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Written: includes any representation of words, letters, symbols, or figures. See Texas Government Code 311.005

A district with territory in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of a municipality may negotiate and enter into a written strategic partnership with the municipality under § 43.0751.
