(a) When any deed, mortgage, deed of trust, decree, or other instrument appears of record in the register’s office of any county, containing the description of more than one (1) tract, lot, or parcel of land, any person desiring a copy of any such deed, etc., may direct that only the description of such lots, tracts, or parcels be included in the copy as such person may desire; and the register in making the copy shall insert not less than one-half (½) line of x marks before and after, or before or after, as the case may be, indicating that descriptions have been omitted from the copy.

  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
  • Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) Such copies so made shall have full force and effect as evidence.
