Terms Used In Tennessee Code 50-6-407

  • Administrator: means the chief administrative officer of the bureau of workers' compensation of the department of labor and workforce development. See Tennessee Code 50-6-102
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Department: means the department of labor and workforce development. See Tennessee Code 50-6-102
  • Employee: includes every person, including a minor, whether lawfully or unlawfully employed, the president, any vice president, secretary, treasurer or other executive officer of a corporate employer without regard to the nature of the duties of the corporate officials, in the service of an employer, as employer is defined in subdivision (11), under any contract of hire or apprenticeship, written or implied. See Tennessee Code 50-6-102
  • Employer: includes any individual, firm, association or corporation, the receiver or trustee of the individual, firm, association or corporation, or the legal representative of a deceased employer, using the services of not less than five (5) persons for pay, except as provided in §. See Tennessee Code 50-6-102
  • Representative: when applied to those who represent a decedent, includes executors and administrators, unless the context implies heirs and distributees. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

Every individual, firm, association, or corporation using the services of one (1) or more persons for pay shall post and maintain in a conspicuous place on the business premises a printed notice regarding workers’ compensation as prescribed by the administrator of the bureau of workers’ compensation. The notice shall include, at a minimum, a general description of the duties and obligations of both the employer and the employee under the law; the name, address and telephone number of the individual to notify in the event of a work-related injury; a toll-free number and address for the department of labor and workforce development at which employers or employees may obtain additional information; and the name, address and telephone number of a representative of the employer who can confirm whether the individual, firm, association, or corporation is subject to this chapter; and other information required through rules promulgated by the administrator of the bureau of workers’ compensation.
