A person is guilty of a class C misdemeanor if the person removes, tampers with, or otherwise disturbs an AED, AED cabinet or enclosure, or AED sign, unless:

Terms Used In Utah Code 53-2d-808
- AED: means an automated or automatic computerized medical device that:(4)(a) has received pre-market notification approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration, pursuant to Utah Code 53-2d-101
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Patient: means an individual who, as the result of illness, injury, or a behavioral emergency condition, meets any of the criteria in Section
26B-4-119 . See Utah Code 53-2d-101- Person: means :
(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5(1)(a) inspecting the AED or AED cabinet or enclosure; or(1)(b) performing maintenance or repairs on the AED, the AED cabinet or enclosure, a wall or structure that the AED cabinet or enclosure is directly attached to, or an AED sign;(2) the person is responding to, or providing care to, a potential sudden cardiac arrest patient; or(3) the person acts in good faith with the intent to support, and not to violate, the recognized purposes of the AED.
