63A-17-809. Guidance and data collection regarding employment of individuals with criminal histories.
(1) |
The division shall:
Terms Used In Utah Code 63A-17-809- Agency: means any department or unit of Utah state government with authority to employ personnel. See Utah Code 63A-17-102
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Division: means the Division of Human Resource Management, created in Section 63A-17-105. See Utah Code 63A-17-102
(a) |
provide information and guidance to agencies encouraging the hiring of individuals with criminal histories, including:
(i) |
skills developed during incarceration through the Division of Correctional Industries and any other relevant program; and |
(ii) |
guidelines to determine whether an applicant’s conviction, disclosed in accordance with Section 34-52-201, is a job-related conviction; and |

(b) |
ensure that agency job opportunities available to individuals with criminal histories are included in the web portal. |

(2) |
On or before October 1, 2024, the division shall provide a written report to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee describing the efforts described in Subsection (1). |
