- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
§ 2644. Child of unmarried woman
An unmarried woman who bears a child shall be guardian of such child until another is appointed. (Amended 1987, No. 174 (Adj. Sess.), § 3.)
