  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Person: means an individual, firm, partnership, corporation, company, association, joint stock association, or body politic, including a trustee, receiver, assignee, or other similar representative. See

§ 3730. Negligence of employee; penalty

An engineer, fireman, or other agent of a railroad who is guilty of negligence or carelessness that causes an injury to a person shall be imprisoned not more than one year or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.
