  • claim for relief: means a right to payment, whether or not the right is reduced to judgment, liquidated, unliquidated, fixed, contingent, matured, unmatured, disputed, undisputed, legal, equitable, secured, or unsecured. See
  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • Transfer: means every mode, direct or indirect, absolute or conditional, voluntary or involuntary, of disposing of or parting with an asset or an interest in an asset, and includes payment of money, release, lease, and creation of a lien or other encumbrance. See

§ 2293. Extinguishment of claim for relief

A claim for relief with respect to a transfer or obligation under this chapter is extinguished unless action is brought:

(1) under subdivision 2288(a)(1) of this title, not later than four years after the transfer was made or the obligation was incurred or, if later, not later than one year after the transfer or obligation was or could reasonably have been discovered by the claimant;

(2) under subdivision 2288(a)(2) or subsection 2289(a) of this title, not later than four years after the transfer was made or the obligation was incurred;

(3) under subsection 2289(b) of this title, not later than one year after the transfer was made or the obligation was incurred; or

(4) pursuant to the provisions of 32 Vt. Stat. Ann. chapter 133, subchapter 9 for a tax sale, not later than two years after the tax collector’s deed is delivered to the successful bidder at the tax sale. (Added 1995, No. 179 (Adj.
