A. Except as provided in subsection B, registrations required to be filed under this chapter shall be open to the public for inspection at such time and under such conditions as the Department may prescribe. A charge not exceeding $1 per page may be made for any copy of such documents as may be furnished to any person by the Department.

  • Department: means the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. See Virginia Code 59.1-556
  • Freedom of Information Act: A federal law that mandates that all the records created and kept by federal agencies in the executive branch of government must be open for public inspection and copying.   • operator: means a person or entity that offers fantasy contests for a cash prize to members of the public. See Virginia Code 59.1-556
  • Person: includes any individual, corporation, partnership, association, cooperative, limited liability company, trust, joint venture, government, political subdivision, or any other legal or commercial entity and any successor, representative, agent, agency, or instrumentality thereof. B. Reports, data, or documents submitted to the Department pursuant to the audit requirements of § 59.1-559 and records submitted to the Department as part of an application for registration or renewal that contain information about the character or financial responsibility of the operator or its principal stockholders shall be deemed confidential and shall be exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act2.2-3700 et seq.).
