Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2A:65-10

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • Remainderman: One entitled to the remainder of an estate after a particular reserved right or interest, such as a life tenancy, has expired.
If the tenant of the particular estate neglects or fails to take and keep possession of the real estate and maintain the same free from waste within 2 months from the date of the service of the demand so to do as provided by section 2A:65-8 of this title, or neglects or fails to pay the taxes or municipal liens upon such real estate chargeable by law to him within 3 months from the date of the service of the demand so to do as provided by said section 2A:65-8, the remainderman, reversioner or other person entitled to the ultimate enjoyment of the real estate may maintain a civil action in the superior court for relief in the premises.
