Each holder of a funeral director‘s license issued in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, who becomes an owner or part owner of an establishment, shall comply with the requirements and provisions of § 20-222 and, in addition thereto, shall employ a full-time licensed embalmer. The provisions of this section shall not apply to an embalmer licensed by the Department of Public Health who is a member of the firm, partnership or corporation operating a funeral service business, provided the funeral service business shall comply with all the provisions of § 20-222.

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Funeral director: means any person engaged or holding himself or herself out as engaged in funeral directing whether or not he or she uses in connection with his or her name or business the words "funeral director" "undertaker" or "mortician" or any other word or title intended to designate him or her as a funeral director or mortician or as one so engaged.   • Funeral service business: means the business, practice or profession of funeral directing. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-207
  • Licensed embalmer: means an embalmer holding a license as provided in this chapter. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-207
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
