- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

905.10 Postinstitutional programs and services.
Persons participating in postinstitutional services, except those persons paroled and those
persons contracted to the district department, remain under the jurisdiction of the Iowa department of corrections. The district department of correctional services shall maintain adequate personnel to provide postinstitutional residential services, programs for offenders convicted under chapter 321J, parole services, and supervision of persons transferred into the state under the interstate compact for supervision of parolees and probationers.
