(a) Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 40-2228f through 40-2228h, and amendments thereto, shall be known as the Kansas long-term care insurance prompt payment act and shall apply to any policy of long-term care insurance issued or renewed in this state.

(b) The provisions of the Kansas long-term care prompt payment act shall take effect and be in force on and after January 1, 2008.

  • Long-term care insurance: includes group and individual policies or riders whether issued by insurers, fraternal benefit societies, nonprofit medical and hospital service corporations, prepaid health plans, health maintenance organizations, or any similar organization.   • Policy: means , except as otherwise provided in subsection (e), any individual or group policy, contract, subscriber agreement, rider or endorsement delivered or issued for delivery in this state by an insurer, fraternal benefit society, nonprofit medical and hospital service corporation, prepaid health plan, health maintenance organization or any similar organization.   • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
