Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3704

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

In carrying out the work provided for in La. Rev. Stat. 33:3701 through 3703, the amount, if any, due to the municipality or parish shall be due and payable immediately after the work is completed and accepted, and the amount, if any, due the railroads, from the municipality or parish, shall also be due and payable immediately after the completion of the work, and either may recover the amounts due in any court of competent jurisdiction.
