Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1777

  • Court: means an entity authorized under the law of a state to establish, enforce or modify a child custody determination. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1732
  • Respondent: means a person against whom a proceeding has been commenced for enforcement of an order for return of a child under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction or enforcement of a child custody determination. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1761
If the respondent is not the prevailing party, the court may assess against the respondent all direct expenses and costs incurred by the prosecutor and law enforcement officers under section 1775 or 1776. [PL 1999, c. 486, §3 (NEW); PL 1999, c. 486, §6 (AFF).]
