Terms Used In Missouri Laws 348.020

  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

There is hereby created, with such duties and powers as are set forth in sections 348.005 to 348.415 to carry out the provisions hereof, a body politic and corporate, an independent instrumentality exercising essential public functions, to be known as the “Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority”. The powers of the authority shall be vested in seven commissioners, who shall be residents of this state, to be appointed by the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, except that the director of the department of agriculture shall serve as a member of the authority as an ex officio member. Not more than four of the commissioners shall be of the same political party.
