Terms Used In South Carolina Code 16-9-300

  • Indictment: The formal charge issued by a grand jury stating that there is enough evidence that the defendant committed the crime to justify having a trial; it is used primarily for felonies.
All offenses against the provisions of §§ 16-9-280 and 16-9-290 shall be heard, tried and determined before the court of general sessions after the indictment.
