Terms Used In South Carolina Code 19-3-160
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The law of a jurisdiction other than those referred to in § 19-3-120 shall be an issue for the court but shall not be subject to the foregoing provisions concerning judicial notice.
