Terms Used In Tennessee Code 13-20-508

  • Farmers of low income: means persons or families who at the time of their admission to occupancy in a dwelling of the authority:
    (A) Live under unsafe or unsanitary housing conditions. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
  • housing authority: means a public body and a body corporate and politic organized in accordance with this chapter for the purposes, with the powers, and subject to the restrictions, hereinafter set forth. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
(1) Except as otherwise provided herein, a regional housing authority and the commissioners thereof shall, within the area of operation of such regional housing authority, have the same functions, rights, powers, duties, privileges, immunities and limitations provided for housing authorities created for cities or counties and the commissioners of such housing authorities, and all law applicable to housing authorities created for cities or counties and the commissioners of such authorities shall be applicable to regional housing authorities and the commissioners thereof.
(2) For such purposes, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context:

(A) “City” means county;
(B) “City clerk” means county clerk; and
(C) “Mayor” or “council” as used in this chapter, and any amendments thereto, means county legislative body.
(b) A regional housing authority shall not be subject to the limitations provided in § 13-20-113(a)(4) with respect to housing projects for farmers of low income.
