Terms Used In Tennessee Code 54-4-508

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Local government: means any county, incorporated city or town, and metropolitan form of government, or any of them. See Tennessee Code 54-4-502

Any project undertaken pursuant to this part shall be maintained by the local government within whose jurisdiction the project lies.
