Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 822.44

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

An appeal may be taken from a final order in a proceeding under this subchapter in accordance with ch. 809. Unless the court enters a temporary emergency order under s. 822.24, the enforcing court may not stay an order enforcing a child custody determination pending appeal.
