(1) The board of education of each community college district, in consultation with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, shall develop standards for the community college of the district to implement to give credit for education and training obtained by a person while the person served in the Armed Forces of the United States, as defined in ORS § 341.496. The community college must give credit for education and training that meets the standards adopted by the board.

Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 341.506

  • Board: means the board of education of a community college district. See Oregon Statutes 341.005
  • community college: means a public institution operated by a community college district for the purposes of providing courses of study limited to not more than two years' full-time attendance and designed to meet the needs of a geographical area by providing educational services, including but not limited to career and technical education programs or lower division collegiate programs.   • district: means a district formed under this chapter to operate one or more community colleges or to secure educational services available at a community college. See Oregon Statutes 341.005

(2) The board of education of a community college district, in consultation with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, shall develop methods for informing persons who served in the Armed Forces of the United States about how credit may be received as provided by subsection (1) of this section.
