Terms Used In Iowa Code > Chapter 260G - Accelerated Career Education Program

  • Accelerated career education program: means a program established pursuant to section 260G. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Agreement: means a program agreement referred to in section 260G. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Board of directors: means the board of directors of a community college. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Community college: means a community college established under chapter 260C or a consortium of two or more community colleges. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Degree: means a postsecondary credential conferring on the recipient the title of associate, bachelor, master, or doctor, or an equivalent title, signifying educational attainment based on study which may be supplemented by experience or achievement testing. See Iowa Code 261B.2
  • Employee: means a person employed in a program job. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Employer: means a business or consortium of businesses engaged in interstate or intrastate commerce for the purpose of manufacturing, processing, or assembling products, construction, conducting research and development, or providing services in interstate or intrastate commerce, but excludes retail services. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Highly skilled job: means a job with a broadly based, high performance skill profile including advanced computation and communication skills, technology skills, and workplace behavior skills, and for which an applied technical education is required. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Participant: means an individual who is enrolled in an accelerated career education program at a community college. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Program capital costs: includes , but is not limited to, costs related to any or all of the following:
  • Program costs: means all necessary and incidental costs of providing program services. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Program job: means a highly skilled job available from an employer pursuant to a program agreement. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Program job credit: means the credit as provided in section 260G. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Program job position: means a job position which is planned or available for an employee by the employer pursuant to a program agreement. See Iowa Code 260G.2
  • Program services: includes , but is not limited to, all of the following provided they are pursuant to a program agreement:
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Student: means a person who enrolls in or seeks to enroll in a course of instruction offered or conducted by a school. See Iowa Code 261B.2
  • United States: includes all the states. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
