(a) To become a corporation, the President of Jefferson State Community College, the Presiding Chair of the State House of Representatives Legislative Delegation of Jefferson County, and the Chair of the State Senate Legislative Delegation of Jefferson County shall present to the Secretary of State of Alabama an application signed by them which shall set forth all of the following:

Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
(1) The name, official designation, and official residence of each of the applicants.(2) The name of the proposed corporation.(3) The location of the principal office of the corporation.(4) Any other matter relating to the incorporation which the applicants may choose to insert and which is not inconsistent with this article or the laws of the State of Alabama.(b) The application shall be subscribed and sworn to by each of the applicants before an officer authorized by the laws of this state to take acknowledgments to deeds.(c) The Secretary of State shall examine the application and if the Secretary of State finds that it substantially complies with the requirements of this article and other applicable laws, the Secretary of State shall receive and file it and record it in the appropriate book of records in the office of the Secretary of State.
