Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 12.50.050

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

The right to obtain witnesses under Alaska Stat. § 12.50.01012.50.080 in criminal proceedings shall extend to the state or a defendant. Witness fees shall be paid by the party calling the witness, except as provided in Rule 17(b), Alaska Rules of Criminal Procedure. If the time estimate in the certificate of the requesting court is exceeded, the nonindigent defendant shall be required to tender additional per diem or post bond to insure payment of total witness fees.
