A private residence may not be held out publicly as a shelter for runaway minors unless the residence

(1) is designated a shelter for runaways by a corporation that is licensed to make the designation under Alaska Stat. Chapter 47.32; and

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • department: means the Department of Family and Community Services. See Alaska Statutes 47.10.990
(2) has a valid permit from the department signifying that designation.
