Agent: means any person who, for compensation, enrolls or attempts to enroll residents of this state in a professional driver training school through personal or telephone contact, advertisement, mail or any other type of publication. See Arizona Laws 32-2351
Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
Instructor: means any person, whether acting for himself as an operator of a professional driver training school or for any such school for compensation, who teaches, conducts classes of, gives demonstrations to, or supervises the practice of persons learning to operate or drive motor vehicles or preparing to take an examination for a driver license or instruction permit, and any person who supervises the work of any other instructor. Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Misdemeanor: Usually a petty offense, a less serious crime than a felony, punishable by less than a year of confinement.
Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
Person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association or society, as well as a natural person. See Arizona Laws 1-215
Planning agency: means the official body designated by local ordinance to carry out the purposes of this article and may be a planning department, a planning commission, a hearing officer, the legislative body itself or any combination thereof. See Arizona Laws 9-462
Process: means a citation, writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings. See Arizona Laws 1-215
school: means a business enterprise conducted by an individual, association, partnership, or corporation that educates and trains persons, either practically or theoretically, or both, to operate or drive commercial motor vehicles, that prepares applicants for an examination given by the state for a commercial driver license or instruction permit and that charges a consideration or tuition for these services.
