Terms Used In California Codes > Education Code > Title 3 > Division 9

  • Achievement level descriptors: means a narrative description of the knowledge, skills, and processes expected of pupils at different grade levels and at different performance levels on achievement tests. See California Education Code 60603
  • Achievement test: means any summative standardized test that measures the level of performance that a pupil has achieved on state-adopted content standards. See California Education Code 60603
  • Acquire: includes purchase, condemnation, lease, and gift. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • action taken: means a collective decision made by the members of a state body, a collective commitment or promise by the members of the state body to make a positive or negative decision or an actual vote by the members of a state body when sitting as a body or entity upon a motion, proposal, resolution, order or similar action. See California Government Code 11122
  • Actual benefit: means the amount, if any, realized by the lender upon the disposition of property acquired through foreclosure or its equivalent as a direct result of a removal or remedial action undertaken by another person, not to exceed the amount, if any, by which the disposition proceeds exceed the sum of the balance of all of the following:

  • Additional place of practice: as used in this article , means any place of practice that increases the number of places of practice of the applicant, and includes an additional office that the applicant proposes to originally establish, either individually or in association with another, as well as an established place of practice that the applicant acquires or proposes to acquire, in whole or in part, by purchase, repossession, reassignment, gift, devise, bequest, or operation of law, except as otherwise provided in this article.   • Adult patient: means a dental patient 13 years of age or older. See California Education Code 60604
  • Advertisement: means any written or printed communication, including a directory listing, except a free telephone directory listing that does not allow space for a license number. See California Education Code 92449
  • Advisory body: means the advisory body for each individual agriculture program. See California Education Code 54444
  • Agency: means the Environmental Affairs Agency. See California Government Code 11430.50
  • Agent: as used in this chapter , means a person acting in accordance with Title 9 (commencing with Section 2295) of Part 4 of Division 3 of the Civil Code for purposes of managing, operating, leasing, or performing a similar function with respect to a building subject to this chapter. See California Government Code 11180.5
  • Agriculture programs: means the programs specified in Section 221, Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 5301) of Division 4, Sections 6037, 6038, and 9641. See California Education Code 54444
  • Appliance: means any new television, radio, audio or video recorder, or playback device normally used or sold for use in the home or in a private motor vehicle, or any new refrigerator, freezer, range, oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher, room air conditioner, or sewing machine normally used or sold for use in the home, or any new typewriter, adding machine, calculator, or other similar machine, or any electrically operated tool, any of which applicances have a manufacturer's invoice sale value of fifty dollars ($50) or more. See California Education Code 60642.5
  • Applicant: as used in this chapter , means an unlicensed person who has completed a master's or doctoral degree program, as specified in Sections 4980. See California Education Code 54400
  • Asbestos: as used in this chapter , has the same meaning as defined in Section 6501. See California Government Code 11158
  • Asbestos-containing construction material: as used in this chapter , means any manufactured construction material, including structural, mechanical and building material, which contains more than one-tenth of 1 percent asbestos by weight. See California Government Code 11159
  • Authority: means the High-Speed Rail Authority created pursuant to Section 185020 of the Public Utilities Code, or its successor. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 16525.29
  • bait net: means a lampara or round haul type net, the mesh of which is constructed of twine not exceeding Standard No. See California Government Code 11531
  • Board: means the Dental Board of California. See California Education Code 67347.3
  • board: means the State Public Works Board, and "director" means Director of General Services. See California Government Code 31884
  • Board: means the State Public Works Board. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • Board: as used in this chapter , means the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California. See California Education Code 51764
  • Board: as used in this chapter , means the Board of Behavioral Sciences. See California Education Code 54400
  • Board: as used in this article , means the Board of Administration of the Public Employees' Retirement System. See California Government Code 31882
  • board: as used in this chapter means the Medical Board of California. See California Education Code 66261
  • Building: as used in this chapter , means all or part of any "public and commercial building" as defined in Section 2642 of Title 15 of the United States Code, as that section reads on January 1, 1989, except that "building" shall not mean residential dwellings. See California Government Code 11160
  • Bureau: means the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. See California Education Code 92449
  • Cardcheck agreement: means a written agreement between an employer and a labor organization providing a procedure for determining employee preference on the subject of whether to be represented by a labor organization for collective bargaining, and if so, by which labor organization to be represented, that provides, at a minimum, the following:

  • Census administration: means a test administration in which all pupils take comparable assessments of the same content and where results of individual performance are appropriate and meaningful to parents, pupils, and teachers. See California Education Code 60603
  • certificate: as used in this chapter are deemed to be synonomous. See California Education Code 69960
  • Certificate: means a valid certificate issued by the council pursuant to this chapter. See California Education Code 54465
  • Certification: means the issuance of a certificate to a dentist licensed by the board who provides the board with his or her name, and the location where the administration of oral conscious sedation will occur, and fulfills the requirements specified in Sections 1647. See California Education Code 60510.5
  • Certification: means the issuance of a certificate to a dentist licensed by the board who provides the board with his or her name and the location at which the administration of oral conscious sedation will occur, and fulfills the requirements specified in Sections 1647.   • Chief: means the Chief of the Office of Information Security. See California Government Code 11549.1
  • Chief: means the Chief of the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. See California Education Code 92449
  • Child: means an individual under 18 years of age. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 18951
  • child: means a member's child who is dependent upon such member at the time of the member's death and while such child is unmarried and:

  • Child abuse: as used in this chapter means a situation in which a child suffers from any one or more of the following:

  • Client centered advocacy: as used in this chapter , includes, but is not limited to, researching, identifying, and accessing resources, or other activities, related to obtaining or providing services and supports for clients or groups of clients receiving psychotherapy or counseling services. See California Education Code 54400
  • coin dealer: means any person, firm, partnership, or corporation whose principal business is the buying, selling, and trading of coins, monetized bullion, or commercial grade ingots of gold, or silver, or other precious metals. See California Government Code 11111
  • Collateral: means any specific vehicle, trailer, boat, recreational vehicle, motor home, appliance, or other property that is subject to a security agreement. See California Education Code 92449
  • Collective bargaining agreement: means an agreement between an employer and a labor organization regarding wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment of the employer's employees. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • Combustibles: means any substances or articles that are capable of undergoing combustion or catching fire, or that are flammable, if retained. See California Education Code 92449
  • Commercial grade ingots: means 0. See California Government Code 11113
  • commission: means the Student Aid Commission created by this article. See California Education Code 69515
  • Compensation: means a payment, loan, advance, donation, contribution, deposit, or gift of money, or anything of value. See California Education Code 54465
  • conscious sedation: means a minimally depressed level of consciousness produced by a pharmacologic or nonpharmacologic method, or a combination thereof, that retains the patient's ability to maintain independently and continuously an airway, and respond appropriately to physical stimulation or verbal command. See California Education Code 60227
  • Consortium: means a multistate collaborative organized to develop a comprehensive system of assessments or formative tools such as described in Section 60605. See California Education Code 60603
  • Construction: includes the extension, enlargement, repair, renovation, restoration, improvement, furnishing, and equipping of any public building. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • Content standards: means the specific academic knowledge, skills, and abilities that all public schools in this state are expected to teach, and all pupils are expected to learn, in reading, writing, mathematics, history-social science, foreign languages, visual and performing arts, and science, at each grade level tested. See California Education Code 60603
  • Corridor: means a portion of the high-speed train system as described in Section 2704. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 16525.29
  • Council: means the California Massage Therapy Council created pursuant to this chapter, which shall be a nonprofit organization exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of Title 26 of the United States Code. See California Education Code 54465
  • Damages: includes compensatory damages, exemplary damages, punitive damages, and costs of every kind and nature, including, but not limited to, costs of a removal or remedial action. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Dangerous drugs: means any controlled substances as defined in Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 11053) of Division 10 of the Health and Safety Code. See California Education Code 92449
  • Debtor: means any person obligated under a security agreement. See California Education Code 92449
  • decision: means any determination of the department imposing a penalty assessment or affecting a license which may be appealed to the board under Section 22 of Article XX of the Constitution. See California Government Code 11150
  • Dental college approved by the board: means a dental school or college that is approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, that is accredited by a body that has a reciprocal accreditation agreement with that commission, or that has been approved by the Dental Board of California through its own approval process. See California Education Code 60200.9
  • Department: means the Department of Consumer Affairs. See California Education Code 92449
  • direct evidence: means evidence that directly proves a fact, without an inference or presumption, and which in itself, if true, conclusively establishes that fact. See California Education Code 92519
  • Director: means the Director of the Office of Privacy Protection. See California Government Code 11549.8
  • Discipline: means an advanced dental educational program in an area of dental practice not approved as a specialty by the American Dental Association. See California Education Code 60200.9
  • district: means the Desert Healthcare District. See California Government Code 11540
  • Division of Licensing: shall be deemed to refer to the board. See California Education Code 66261
  • Electrolysis: as used in this chapter includes electrolysis or thermolysis. See California Education Code 92112
  • Electronic format: includes , but is not limited to, a text message, email, or Internet posting. See California Education Code 92449
  • Employee: as used in this chapter , means every person who is required or directed by any employer, to engage in any employment, and who performs that employment other than on a casual or incidental basis in any building subject to this chapter, or any person contracting with an owner who is required or directed to perform services, other than on a casual or incidental basis, in any building subject to this chapter. See California Government Code 11161
  • establishment: means a fixed location where massage is performed for compensation, excluding those locations where massage is only provided on an out-call basis. See California Education Code 54465
  • Experience: as used in this chapter , means experience in interpersonal relationships, psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, direct counseling, and nonclinical practice that satisfies the requirements for licensure as a marriage and family therapist pursuant to Section 4980. See California Education Code 54400
  • Facility: means any campus, school, cafeteria, store, hospital, clinic, institute, laboratory, or office owned or operated by the university, or at which the normal educational or administrative functions of the university are conducted. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • fee: includes , but is not limited to, any application fee, license fee, permit fee, inspection fee, certification fee, registration fee, identification fee, analysis fee, or certificate fee. See California Education Code 54525
  • Fiduciary: means a person who is acting in any of the following capacities:

  • Field test: means an assessment or assessment items administered to a representative sample of a population to ensure that the test or item produces results that are valid, reliable, and fair. See California Education Code 60603
  • Finance lease: means a transaction with respect to which both of the following apply:

  • Foreclosure or its equivalent: means the acquisition of property by a lender through any of the following:

  • Formative assessment tools: means assessment tools and processes that are embedded in instruction and used by teachers and pupils to provide timely feedback for purposes of adjusting instruction to improve learning. See California Education Code 60603
  • General anesthesia: as used in this article , means a controlled state of depressed consciousness or unconsciousness, accompanied by partial or complete loss of protective reflexes, produced by a pharmacologic or nonpharmacologic method, or a combination thereof. See California Education Code 60207
  • Hazardous material: means any of the following materials:

    California Government Code 11430.50

  • Health hazard: means any personal effects that if retained would produce an unsanitary or unhealthful condition, or which might damage other personal effects. See California Education Code 92449
  • High-speed train: means a passenger train capable of sustained revenue operating speeds of at least 200 miles per hour where conditions permit those speeds. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 16525.29
  • High-speed train system: means a system with high-speed trains and includes, but is not limited to, the following components: right-of-way, track, power system, rolling stock, stations, and associated facilities. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 16525.29
  • hosting platform: means a marketplace that is created for the primary purpose of facilitating the rental of a residential unit offered for occupancy for tourist or transient use for compensation to the offeror of that unit, and the operator of the hosting platform derives revenues, including booking fees or advertising revenues, from providing or maintaining that marketplace. See California Education Code 66010.3
  • Identifiable writing: means any handwriting, typewriting, printing, photostating, photographing, photocopying, transmitting by electronic mail or facsimile, and every other means of recording upon any tangible thing, any form of communication or representation, including, but not limited to, letters, words, pictures, sounds, or symbols, or combinations thereof, and any record thereby created, regardless of the manner in which the record has been stored.   • Indian-owned property: means any tax exempt trust property to which an American Indian has rights as determined by federal laws, as administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the Department of Interior. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 17601.25
  • Indicia of ownership: means evidence of a security interest, evidence of an interest in a security interest, or evidence of an interest in real or personal property securing a loan or other obligation, including, but not limited to, any legal or equitable title to real or personal property acquired incident to foreclosure or its equivalent. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • individual: includes every natural person, domestic or foreign private corporation, nonprofit corporation, unincorporated association, company, partnership of whatever kind, syndicate, joint stock company, trustee, protective committee, depositors' league, and other similar organization however described. See California Government Code 31839
  • informed consent: means the authorization given pursuant to Section 24175 to have a medical experiment performed after each of the following conditions have been satisfied:

  • Intern: as used in this chapter , means an unlicensed person who has earned his or her master's or doctoral degree qualifying him or her for licensure and is registered with the board. See California Education Code 54400
  • Junk dealer: has the meaning defined in Section 21601. See California Government Code 11126.4
  • Labor organization: means any organization of any kind, or any agency or employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions or work. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • language assistance: means oral interpretation or written translation into English of a language other than English or of English into another language for a party or witness who cannot speak or understand English or who can do so only with difficulty. See California Government Code 11435.05
  • Legal owner: means a person holding a security interest in any collateral where the collateral is subject to a security agreement, a lien against any collateral, an assignment or a repossession order, or an interest in any collateral that is subject to a lease agreement.   • Lender: includes either of the following persons:

  • Loan or obligation: means a loan, revolving or nonrevolving line of credit, finance lease, sale-leaseback that provides for a purchase option in favor of the lessee, installment sale contract, sale on account, or other credit sale, letter of credit, forbearance or guaranty, collateral pledge, or other suretyship obligation, and any extension, renewal, or modification thereof. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Local educational agency: means a county office of education, school district, state special school, or direct-funded charter school as described in Section 47651. See California Education Code 60603
  • Maintenance: as used in this chapter in relation to lighting systems, includes the replacement of any obsolete equipment with new modern equipment found by the board of supervisors or legislative body of a city to be necessary for the proper operation of the district. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 18496
  • Manufacturer: means any individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other legal relationship which is involved in the manufacture, assembly, or production of an appliance or whose brand name appears on any appliance. See California Education Code 60642.5
  • Massage: means the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues. See California Education Code 54465
  • Massage practitioner: means a person who is certified by the council pursuant to Section 4604. See California Education Code 54465
  • Massage therapist: means a person who is certified by the council under Section 4604 and who administers massage for compensation. See California Education Code 54465
  • Matrix sampling: means administering different portions of a single assessment to different groups of pupils for the purpose of sampling a broader representation of content and reducing testing time. See California Education Code 60603
  • medical experiment: means :

    California Government Code 11136

  • meeting: includes any congregation of a majority of the members of a state body at the same time and place to hear, discuss, or deliberate upon any item that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the state body to which it pertains. See California Government Code 11122.5
  • Minor patient: means a dental patient under the age of 13 years. See California Education Code 60510.5
  • Multidisciplinary personnel: means any team of three or more persons who are trained in the prevention, identification, management, or treatment of child abuse or neglect cases and who are qualified to provide a broad range of services related to child abuse or neglect. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 18951
  • Multiple licensee: means a repossession agency holding more than one repossession license under this chapter, with one fictitious trade style and ownership, conducting repossession business from additional licensed locations other than the location shown on the original license. See California Education Code 92449
  • Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
  • Office: means the Office of Information Security. See California Government Code 11549.1
  • Office: means the Office of Privacy Protection. See California Government Code 11549.8
  • Operator: as used in this article , means any person, partnership, organization or corporation that controls, manages, conducts or otherwise administers a swap meet. See California Government Code 11128
  • Oral conscious sedation: means a minimally depressed level of consciousness produced by oral medication that retains the patient's ability to maintain independently and continuously an airway, and respond appropriately to physical stimulation or verbal command.   • Oral conscious sedation: means a minimally depressed level of consciousness produced by oral medication that retains the patient's ability to maintain independently and continuously an airway, and respond appropriately to physical stimulation or verbal command.   • original off-sale beer and wine license: as used in this division , do not include a license issued upon renewal or transfer of a license. See California Government Code 12012.56
  • Owner: as used in this chapter , means an owner, lessee, sublessee, or agent of the owner of a building or part of a building, including, but not limited to, the state or another public entity. See California Government Code 11180
  • Parent: means any person who exercises care, custody, and control of the child as established by law. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 18951
  • parent: means the father or mother of the deceased member who at the time of the death of such member was not less than 62 years of age and was receiving not less than one-half of his or her support from the member, and who has not remarried since the member's death. See California Government Code 31855.4
  • parent: means the natural, adoptive, or foster parent of a pupil, a surrogate parent, a family member acting on behalf of the parent, or any person having legal authority to make educational decisions on behalf of a pupil. See California Education Code 51131
  • Pension board: as used in this article , means the board of retirement. See California Government Code 31884
  • Person: includes , but is not limited to, any city, county, district, the state, or the federal government, or any department, subdivision, or agency thereof. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Personal effects: means any property that is not the property of the legal owner. See California Education Code 92449
  • Population sampling: means administering assessments to a representative sample of pupils instead of the entire pupil population. See California Education Code 60603
  • Primarily to protect a security interest: means that the indicia of ownership of a lender are held primarily for the purpose of securing payment or performance of an obligation. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Program: means an information security program established pursuant to Section 11549. See California Government Code 11549.1
  • Property: includes all property, real, personal or mixed, tangible or intangible, or any interest therein necessary or desirable for carrying out the purposes of this part. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • property: includes any real or personal property in which the obligor has or had an ownership, leasehold, or possessory interest, whether or not it was the subject of a security interest for the loan or obligation. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Proprietary interest: means any nonregulatory arrangement or circumstances in which the financial or other nonregulatory interests of the university in a service contract could be adversely affected by labor-management conflict or consumer boycotts potentially resulting from a union organizing campaign. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • psychiatric technician: means any person who, for compensation or personal profit, implements procedures and techniques that involve understanding of cause and effect and that are used in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of mentally ill or emotionally disturbed persons, or persons with intellectual disabilities, and who has one or more of the following:

  • public agency: includes the federal government or any federal department or agency, this state, any other state or any state department or agency, a county, city, public corporation, or public district of this state or any other state. See California Government Code 31895
  • Public building: includes any structure, building, facility, or work that a state agency has jurisdiction of, or is authorized to design or construct, including, but not limited to, infrastructure, parking lots, landscaping, and other ancillary facilities, including furnishings and equipment, incidental to the use of any building, and also includes the site thereof, and any easements or rights of way appurtenant thereto or necessary for its full use.   • qualified manager: is a person who possesses a valid qualification certificate in accordance with the provisions of Article 5 (commencing with Section 7504) and is in active control or management of, and who is a director of, the licensee's place of business. See California Education Code 92449
  • Recently arrived English learner: means a pupil designated as an English learner who is in his or her first 12 months of attending a school in the United States. See California Education Code 60603
  • Regents of the University of California: means any of the following:

  • Registered owner: means the individual listed in the records of the Department of Motor Vehicles, on a conditional sales contract, or on an assignment or a repossession order, as the registered owner. See California Education Code 92449
  • Release: means any spilling, leaking, pumping, pouring, emitting, emptying, discharging, injecting, escaping, leaching, dumping, or disposing into the environment. See California Government Code 11430.50
  • Removal: means the cleanup or removal of released hazardous materials from the environment or the taking of other actions that may be necessary to prevent, minimize, or mitigate damages that may otherwise result from a release or threatened release, as further defined in Section 101(23) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 (42 U. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • repossession order: means any written authorization by the legal owner, lienholder, lessor, lessee, or registered owner, or the agent of any of them, to skip trace, locate, or repossess any collateral, including, but not limited to, collateral registered under the Vehicle Code that is subject to a security agreement that contains a repossession clause. See California Education Code 92449
  • secondhand dealer: as used in this article , means and includes any person, copartnership, firm, or corporation whose business includes buying, selling, trading, taking in pawn, accepting for sale on consignment, accepting for auctioning, or auctioning secondhand tangible personal property. See California Government Code 11111
  • Secondhand dealer: has the meaning defined in Section 21626. See California Government Code 11126.4
  • Secretary: means the Secretary of the Environmental Affairs Agency. See California Government Code 11430.50
  • security: includes all of the things enumerated in Section 25019 and also includes shares, stock, and investment certificates as defined in the Savings Association Law. See California Government Code 31838.5
  • Security agreement: means an obligation, pledge, mortgage, chattel mortgage, lease agreement, deposit, or lien, given by a debtor as security for payment or performance of his or her debt, by furnishing the creditor with a recourse to be used in case of failure in the principal obligation. See California Education Code 92449
  • Security interest: means an interest in a property created or established for the purpose of securing a loan or obligation. See California Government Code 11435.25
  • Service contract: means a lease, management agreement, service agreement, loan bond, guarantee, or other similar agreement to which the university is a party and in which the university has a proprietary interest. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • Service contractor: means an individual, corporation, unincorporated association, partnership, or other entity, other than a collection agency retained by the university to enforce a financial obligation owed to the university, that, pursuant to a service contract, provides goods or services to the university. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • Services: means any duty or labor to be rendered by one person for another. See California Education Code 92449
  • Sewers: as used in this chapter includes lateral and collecting sewers, septic tanks, and all other means of handling, gathering, and disposing of sewage in the district. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 18493
  • Specialty: means an area of dental practice approved by the American Dental Association and recognized by the board. See California Education Code 60200.9
  • State agency: includes any state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, commission, organization, or agency including, without limitation, the University of California, the California State University, the California Community Colleges, and the Judicial Council. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • state agency: includes every state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and commission. See California Government Code 11000
  • state body: means each of the following:

  • Subject person: when used with respect to a licensee, means any of the following:

  • Summative assessment: means an assessment designed to be given near the end of the school year to evaluate a pupil's knowledge and skills relative to a specific set of academic standards. See California Education Code 60603
  • Supervisor: as used in this chapter , means an individual who meets all of the following requirements:

  • swap meet: as used in this article , includes a flea market or an open-air market and means an event, regardless of the number of persons offering or displaying personal property or the absence of fees, at which used personal property is offered or displayed for sale or exchange if the event is held more than six times in any 12-month period. See California Government Code 11128
  • tangible personal property: means all secondhand tangible personal property that bears a serial number or personalized initials or inscription or that, at the time it is acquired by the secondhand dealer, bears evidence of having had a serial number or personalized initials or inscription. See California Government Code 11113
  • Tanning facility: means any location, place, area, structure, or business that provides persons access to any tanning device. See California Education Code 66010.91
  • tax rate: as used in this chapter means tax rate per one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation on all property to be taxed to fund a bond issue described in Section 9400. See California Education Code 92448
  • total benefits: means the retirement allowance or other benefit payable to any beneficiary pursuant to the provisions of this chapter plus any other monetary payments due to the same beneficiary from any public agency. See California Government Code 31895.5
  • Trainee: as used in this chapter , means an unlicensed person who is currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral degree program, as specified in Sections 4980. See California Education Code 54400
  • Trust fund: means the Agriculture Trust Fund created pursuant to Section 232. See California Education Code 54444
  • UC campus foundation: means the following corporations organized under the laws of the State of California: University of California, Berkeley Foundation, UC Davis Foundation, the University of California, Irvine Foundation, the UCLA Foundation, University of California, Merced Foundation, UC Riverside Foundation, U. See California Education Code 51101.1
  • University: means the University of California and its governing body, the Regents of the University of California. See California Education Code 92625.1
  • Vendor: as used in this article , means any person, partnership, organization or corporation who exchanges, sells, or offers for sale or exchange any merchandise at a swap meet. See California Government Code 11128
  • veteran: means any person who has served in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or as an active nurse in the service of the American Red Cross, or in the Army and Navy Nurse Corps in time of war, or in any expedition of the Armed Forces of the United States, or who served in one of these services during the period September 16, 1940, to December 7, 1941, and received a discharge under conditions other than dishonorable.   • Violent act: means any act that results in bodily harm or injury to any party involved. See California Education Code 92449
