  • board: as used in this chapter means the Medical Board of California. See California Education Code 66261
  • board of supervisors: means the board of supervisors of the county within which the city or territory is situated. See California Government Code 14857
  • certificate: as used in this chapter are deemed to be synonomous. See California Education Code 69960
  • contestant: means any person initiating an election contest. See California Education Code 89571
  • Defendant: means that person whose election or nomination is contested or those persons receiving an equal and highest number of votes, other than the contestant, where, in other than primary elections, the body canvassing the returns declares that no one person has received the highest number of votes for the contested office. See California Education Code 89571
  • director: refer to the Department of General Services and the Director of General Services, respectively, unless the context otherwise requires. See California Government Code 31911
  • escrow agent: as used in this division includes joint control agents and Internet escrow agents. See California Government Code 25823
  • film: includes , but is not limited to, feature motion pictures, video recordings, television motion pictures, commercials, and stills. See California Government Code 32337
  • Legislative body: as used in this division , means board of supervisors in the case of a county or city and county, and city council or board of trustees in the case of a city, unless the context otherwise requires. See California Government Code 50002
  • legislative body: means board of trustees, city council, or other governing body of a city. See California Government Code 14856
  • licensee: as used in this chapter means the holder of a physician's and surgeon's certificate or doctor of podiatric medicine's certificate, as the case may be, who is engaged in the professional practice authorized by the certificate under the jurisdiction of the appropriate board. See California Education Code 69962
  • Local agency: as used in this division means county, city, or city and county, unless the context otherwise requires. See California Government Code 50001
  • Monthly average escrow liability: as used in this chapter , means the average escrow liability for the 12-month period as reported in the most recent report made by the member to the commissioner pursuant to Section 17348. See California Health and Safety Code 33328
  • Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
  • Pipeline: includes every intrastate pipeline used for the transportation of hazardous liquid substances or highly volatile liquid substances, including a common carrier pipeline, and all piping containing those substances located within a refined products bulk loading facility which is owned by a common carrier and is served by a pipeline of that common carrier, and the common carrier owns and serves by pipeline at least five such facilities in the state. See California Government Code 14900
  • podiatric medicine: means the diagnosis, medical, surgical, mechanical, manipulative, and electrical treatment of the human foot, including the ankle and tendons that insert into the foot and the nonsurgical treatment of the muscles and tendons of the leg governing the functions of the foot. See California Education Code 69522
  • Production: means the activity of making a film for commercial or noncommercial purposes on property owned by a county, city, or city and county, or on private property within the jurisdiction of a county, city, or city and county. See California Government Code 32337
