  • application to purchase: means either of the following:

    California Revenue and Taxation Code 30178.1

  • Apportionment: means an apportionment made under this chapter unless the context otherwise requires. See California Education Code 15701
  • BB device: means any instrument that expels a projectile, such as a BB or a pellet, through the force of air pressure, gas pressure, or spring action, or any spot marker gun. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30180
  • Board: means the State Allocation Board. See California Education Code 15701
  • consultant-evaluator: means a consultant or evaluator who, in the course of that person's profession is loaned firearms from a person licensed pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the regulations issued pursuant thereto, for research or evaluation, and has a current certificate of eligibility issued pursuant to Section 26710. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30205
  • Credit insurance: includes credit life insurance, credit disability insurance, credit involuntary unemployment insurance, credit loss-of-income insurance, credit property insurance, or guaranteed asset protection (GAP) insurance. See California Insurance Code 1758.992
  • Credit insurance agent license: means an agent license issued to an individual or organization for the enrollment and sale of credit insurance. See California Insurance Code 1758.992
  • Designated agent: means the person who is in charge of the business of a prepaid rental listing service at a given location. See California Education Code 15723
  • Director: means the Director of Education for kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive. See California Education Code 15701
  • Fee: means the charge required by a licensee (1) to obtain listings of residential real properties for tenancy or (2) to purchase any other product or service in order to obtain listings. See California Education Code 15723
  • firearm: includes the frame or receiver of the weapon:

  • firearm safety certificate: means a certificate issued by the Department of Justice pursuant to Sections 31610 to 31700, inclusive, or pursuant to former Article 8 (commencing with Section 12800) of Chapter 6 of Title 2 of Part 4, as that article was operative at any time from January 1, 2003, until it was repealed by the Deadly Weapons Recodification Act of 2010. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30224
  • gunsmith: means any person who is licensed as a dealer pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the regulations issued pursuant thereto, who is engaged primarily in the business of repairing firearms, or making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms, or the agent or employee of that person.   • handgun: means any pistol, revolver, or firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30266
  • handgun safety certificate: means a certificate issued by the Department of Justice pursuant to Sections 31610 to 31700, inclusive, or pursuant to former Article 8 (commencing with Section 12800) of Chapter 6 of Title 2 of Part 4, as that article was operative at any time from January 1, 2003, until it was repealed by the Deadly Weapons Recodification Act of 2010.   • immediate family member: means either of the following relationships:

  • insurance agent: as used in this chapter does not include a life agent as defined in this article. See California Insurance Code 1621
  • Language acquisition programs: refers to educational programs designed to ensure English acquisition as rapidly and as effectively as possible, and that provide instruction to pupils on the state-adopted academic content standards, including the English language development standards. See California Education Code 306
  • license: includes a certificate of convenience and a permanent license, and the term "persons who are licensed" includes the holders of any such certificate or the license, but these definitions and the use of those terms in this chapter shall not confer upon a certificate of convenience or any holder thereof any property right in or to the certificate, the certificate being and remaining only a temporary permit, issued as a matter of convenience, allowing the transaction of insurance without a permanent license, but within the limits, and subject to the conditions of the certificate of convenience issued and the laws applicable thereto.   • License year: as used in this chapter shall be determined for each entity as follows:

  • Licensee: means a person licensed to conduct a prepaid rental listing service or a person engaged in the business of a prepaid rental listing service under a real estate broker license. See California Education Code 15723
  • listing: as used in this part includes, but is not limited to:

    California Government Code 53097.3

  • Location: means the place, other than the main or branch office of a real estate broker, where a prepaid rental listing service business is conducted. See California Education Code 15723
  • machinegun: means any weapon that shoots, is designed to shoot, or can readily be restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30354.5
  • organization: means any legal entity other than a natural person. See California Insurance Code 1628
  • Prepaid rental listing service: means the business of supplying prospective tenants with listings of residential real properties for tenancy, by publication or otherwise, pursuant to an arrangement under which the prospective tenants are required to pay an advance or contemporaneous fee (1) specifically to obtain listings or (2) to purchase any other product or service in order to obtain listings, but which does not otherwise involve the negotiation of rentals by the person conducting the service. See California Education Code 15723
  • Project: means the purposes for which a school district has applied for an apportionment under this chapter. See California Education Code 15701
  • pupil: means individuals with exceptional needs as defined in Section 56026 of the Education Code. See California Insurance Code 1687
  • Purchase: means the purchase, loan, or transfer of a firearm. See California Penal Code 28150
  • Purchase: means the purchase, loan, or transfer of a firearm. See California Penal Code 28200
  • Purchaser: means the purchaser or transferee of a firearm or the person being loaned a firearm. See California Penal Code 28150
  • Purchaser: means the purchaser or transferee of a firearm or the person being loaned a firearm. See California Penal Code 28200
  • Recovery Account: shall be deemed to refer to the Consumer Recovery Account. See California Education Code 16081
  • safety: is a utomatically applied by the pistol, this feature shall not be defeated. See California Penal Code 31900
  • Sale: means the sale, loan, or transfer of a firearm. See California Penal Code 28150
  • Sale: means the sale, loan, or transfer of a firearm. See California Penal Code 28200
  • Salesperson: when used without modification, means a person licensed as a salesperson under any of the provisions of this part. See California Government Code 53090
  • Seller: means , if the transaction is being conducted pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 28050), the person selling, loaning, or transferring the firearm. See California Penal Code 28200
  • wholesaler: means any person who is licensed as a dealer pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the regulations issued pursuant thereto, who sells, transfers, or assigns firearms, or parts of firearms, to persons who are licensed as manufacturers, importers, or gunsmiths pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code, or persons licensed pursuant to Sections 26700 to 26915, inclusive, and includes persons who receive finished parts of firearms and assemble them into completed or partially completed firearms in furtherance of that purpose.
