• Abstract of judgment: In a federal criminal proceeding, A certification from a U.S. District Court clerk that a judgment of restitution was entered against the defendant owing to the victim. If the defendant inherits, owns, or sells real property or holdings, these assets can then be attached at the state and local levels as well.

• Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
• Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
• Awarding department: means any state agency, department, governmental entity, or other officer of an entity empowered by law to enter into contracts on behalf of the State of California. See California Public Contract Code 10470
• Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
• Bequest: Property gifted by will.
• Board: means the California Public Library Construction and Renovation Board. See California Education Code 19986
• Board: means the Board of Corrections, unless otherwise indicated. See California Penal Code 8052
• Chief correctional administrator: means the sheriff, chief probation officer, or director of the county department of corrections, who is designated by the board of supervisors to have administrative responsibility for county corrections operations and programs, including a community-based punishment program. See California Penal Code 8052
• City: includes "city and county" and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Government Code 20
• Commercial modular: as used in this part has the same meaning as defined in Section 18001. See California Health and Safety Code 18218
• Committee: means the California Library Construction and Renovation Finance Committee established pursuant to Section 19972. See California Education Code 19986
• Common necessaries of life: as used in this article , shall be interpreted consistently with the use of that term in paragraph (1) of subdivision (c) of §. See California Government Code 68632
• Community-based punishment: means a partnership between the state and a county or a collaboration of counties to manage and provide correctional services, especially those services considered to be intermediate sanctions at the local level of government for targeted, select offender populations pursuant to the community corrections plan of a county or a collaboration of counties. See California Penal Code 8052
• Community-based punishment plan: means the proposal for a community-based punishment program promulgated by a county or a collaboration of counties that has been developed by the chief correctional administrator, in cooperation with the district attorney, public defender, and other concerned community representatives designated by the board of supervisors, to address correctional needs in that county or collaboration of counties. See California Penal Code 8052
• Contract: includes any agreement or joint development agreement to provide labor, services, materials, supplies, or equipment in the performance of a contract, franchise, concession, or lease granted, let, or awarded for and on behalf of the State of California. See California Public Contract Code 10470
• County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
• County: includes "city and county. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17

• department: means State Department of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 20
• Department: means the Department of General Services. See California Public Contract Code 10290
• Devise: To gift property by will.
• Director: means "State Director of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 21

• Donor: The person who makes a gift.
• Embezzlement: In most states, embezzlement is defined as theft/larceny of assets (money or property) by a person in a position of trust or responsibility over those assets. Embezzlement typically occurs in the employment and corporate settings. ^{Source: OCC}
• Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.

• Fixed Rate: Having a "fixed" rate means that the APR doesn't change based on fluctuations of some external rate (such as the "Prime Rate"). In other words, a fixed rate is a rate that is not a variable rate. A fixed APR can change over time, in several circumstances:
  • You are late making a payment or commit some other default, triggering an increase to a penalty rate
  • The bank changes the terms of your account and you do not reject the change.
  • The rate expires (if the rate was fixed for only a certain period of time).

• Multiple award: means a contract of indefinite quantity for one or more similar goods, information technology, or services to more than one supplier. See California Public Contract Code 10290

• Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
