The department shall do those things necessary and authorized under Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 80100) to make power available directly or indirectly to electric consumers in California. Except as otherwise stated, nothing in this division authorizes the department to take ownership of the transmission, generation, or distribution assets of any electrical corporation in this state.

Terms Used In California Water Code 80012

  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Power: means electric power and energy, including, but not limited to, capacity and output, or any of them. See California Water Code 80010
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Water Code 18
