The committee shall advise the department on the development and implementation of a statewide electronic benefits transfer system, and shall provide advice concerning the request for proposal. The system shall have the capability to deliver CalFresh benefits and, upon the election of the county, benefits under Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 11200) of Part 3. The system may also be used, with the approval of the department, for the distribution of other benefits. Any electronic benefits transfer processor shall be capable of implementing systems within nine months of contracting for services.
