Terms Used In Florida Statutes 570.693

  • Agriculture: means the science and art of production of plants and animals useful to humans, including to a variable extent the preparation of these products for human use and their disposal by marketing or otherwise, and includes aquaculture, horticulture, floriculture, viticulture, forestry, dairy, livestock, poultry, bees, and any and all forms of farm products and farm production.   • Department: means the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. See Florida Statutes 570.02
The Florida agriculture in the classroom program is hereby established within the department. The purpose of this program is to:

(1) Conduct programs and activities related to collecting and producing resources and materials for agricultural education enhancement programs.
(2) Establish local resource contracts to distribute teacher resources and materials.
(3) Identify methods to integrate resources and materials into the classroom and provide teacher training programs.
