  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.

A proceeding for the appointment of a guardian or conservator under article V of chapter 560 may be consolidated with the proceedings under this part as the applicable circuit court and the family court, in the exercise of their discretion, shall permit.
