Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 437-15

  • Board: means the motor vehicle industry licensing board created by this chapter. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 437-1.1
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Every holder of a license issued under this chapter may be held responsible for the conduct of the holder’s agents and employees in all transactions regarding motor vehicles, motor vehicle parts, franchises, and transactions involving a subject or matter within the jurisdiction of the board. No licensee shall permit any person not licensed under this chapter to sell or exchange or offer to sell or exchange any motor vehicle on the premises specified in the license or to sell or exchange any motor vehicle on behalf of the licensee off the premises specified in the license.
