  • Attorney-at-law: A person who is legally qualified and licensed to practice law, and to represent and act for clients in legal proceedings.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
If the prosecuting attorney fails to attend the trial, the court must appoint some attorney at law to perform the duties of the prosecuting attorney on such trial.
