  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
     All grants under this Act shall be administered subject to funding availability. Nothing in this Act shall be construed to mandate that grants be given to any one class of institution or to every institution within a class, however, every institution offering eligible, accredited programs that received grant support in fiscal year 2005 shall continue to receive grant support at a comparable level in subsequent years.
