(a) The law enforcement agency, or handler of the police dog shall be required to have every police dog receive, at minimum, an annual medical examination by a licensed veterinarian.
(b) Prior to beginning service as a police dog, the employing law enforcement agency shall require the dog be vaccinated against rabies as required under § 8 of the Animal Control Act.
